The President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, was greatly welcomed at the Rowing Canal in Plovdiv.
Bach, together with the president of FISA Jean-Christophe Rolland, the mayor of the town Ivan Totev, the Minister of Youth and Sports Krasen Kralev and the chairman of the organising rowing committee Ivan Popov made a symbolic first sod for a the second rowing canal.
The construction will arise at the beginning of 2019 and it is expected to be ready in 9 months.
At the meeting was also Stefka Kostadinova, who held a long conversation with one of our best rowers at the moment Kristian Vassilev.
Without a second crew, Plovdiv could not accept championships of this rank.
